GRAPHIC DESIGNER – Winchester, VA

POSITION SUMMARY

Ashworth is seeking a creatively talented graphic designer that can deliver innovative design solutions both digitally and in print.  The graphic designer will have the ability to collaborate with the marketing team to develop brand identities, successful ad campaigns, and other custom materials, all while meeting project deadlines within budget.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Using Adobe Creative Suite, create and coordinate layout and design for various advertising campaigns, product brochures, technical product reference sheets, website, tradeshow display graphics, customer presentations, and other collateral from concept through completion.
  • Help to manage development and communication of brand standards, including “look and feel” guidelines and be accountable for brand consistency within designs.
  • Work with photographic images to create realistic representation of Ashworth’s product offering.
  • Develop and design original graphics, logos, and illustrations.
  • Prepare files for print production and coordinate with outside commercial printer.
  • Assist with various other marketing and promotional activities, as needed.

 

SKILLS and ABILITIES 

Education:      Degree in graphic design, art, or related field 

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience creating brand/corporate identity and delivering consistency in advertising, media/press, websites, tradeshows, direct mail, product launches, and presentations.
  • Work experience with a technical or engineered hard goods manufacturer preferred.

 

Computer Skills:

  • Must possess an expert understanding of graphic and media software including Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign), MAYA 3D, and Joomla.
  • Must possess strong working knowledge of Website CMS, FTP, and MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of a CRM system is helpful.

 

Other Requirements:

  • Skilled in studio photography, traditional and digital illustration, video, animation, 3-D modeling, digital media composition and editing, and web design.
  • Possess a keen eye and solid experience for producing creative visual communications that deliver a positive impact and consistent image and be able to provide examples of prior work.
  • Familiarity with color correction and preflighting files for commercial printers and service bureaus.
  • Skilled in delivering visually compelling business presentations, documents, and tools.
  • Demonstrated website management experience, including experience with content management tools and website analytic tools such as Google Analytics.
  • Have a general understanding of exhibition design concepts.
  • Must possess a high level of professionalism, organizational skills and be able to effectively prioritize, manage and deliver multiple projects on-time and within budget in a fast-paced environment.

COPYWRITER/COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST – Winchester, VA

POSITION SUMMARY

Ashworth is seeking an exceptionally skilled communications specialist to write, proofread, edit, and re-write copy for use in various publications including advertisements, product literature, press releases, customer communications, brochures, websites, presentations, and other marketing collateral.  In addition, the communications specialist would coordinate publication of marketing material in the United States and abroad.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Produce copy from concept to completion for technical brochures, advertisements, tradeshow displays, press releases, websites, product literature, customer presentations, direct mailers, and other marketing collateral in compliance with brand identity guidelines.
  • Develop and deploy a strategy to leverage content for adaptation and use in various mediums while assuring the communication of a consistent and uniform message.
  • Help to maintain consistent copy standards and style.
  • Collaborate with engineers and product specialists to gain an understanding of product features, technical specifications, and benefits of use.
  • Review competitor and customer data in an effort to focus writing to address product features and benefits and have the ability to adapt a message to specific audiences.
  • Assist with various other marketing and promotional activities, as needed.

 

SKILLS and ABILITIES 

Education:      Degree in technical communications, journalism, English, or related field

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience with copywriting or technical writing.  Strong marketing, public relations, or journalism experience is a plus.

Operations Manager – Manufacturing - Winchester, VA

POSITION SUMMARY

The position of Operations Manager will be responsible for all manufacturing operations for Ashworth.  The incumbent will be responsible for driving improvements in our production, supply chain, logistics, and warehouse operations. The incumbent is expected to manage the operation strategically, and lead the day-to-day operations. The incumbent will develop and execute strategies to improve the plant's material flow and upgrade equipment condition and suppliers thus reducing overall costs.  Experience with Lean manufacturing techniques is a must. Must be able to develop and maintain an effective and involved workforce through performance leadership, education, communications and policies which support diversity and team effectiveness. Must provide leadership to the team and ensures the use of ethical business practices in dealing with customers, employees, vendors, suppliers and the community.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Day-to-day management of a three shift non-union work force.
  • Drive improvements in production, supply chain, logistics, and warehouse operations.
  • Develop and execute strategies to improve the plant's material flow, continually upgrade the condition of equipment and work with vendors to reduce costs.
  • Develop a continuous improvement culture utilizing lean manufacturing principles striving for the lowest cost with the highest quality.\
  • Develop and maintain an effective and involved workforce through leadership, education, communication and policies that support diversity, safety and team effectiveness.
  • Set budgets for capital improvements.
  • Partner with the sales organization to understand commercial issues (i.e. price, lead times, quality, etc.) and establish a customer-focused mindset on the plant floor in order to respond to customers’ expectations.
  • Ensure the use of ethical business practices in dealing with customers, employees, vendors, suppliers and the community.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:          A Bachelor’s degree is required, mechanical engineering highly preferred. 

Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of 8 years plant management experience managing a metal fabrication facility of high volume, high mix, made-to-order precision products.
  • Must have an extremely strong background in all types of welding (i.e. Tig, Mig, Plasma, etc.).
  • Must have managed a plant of ±150 employees.
  • Career progression of quality control experience preferred.
  • Must have strong procurement skills including global sourcing.
  • Must be a strong proponent of Lean Manufacturing principles utilizing Continuous Improvement with a proven track record of cost reductions.
  • Strong budgeting skills.
  • Strong recruiting and staff training skills.
  • Possess a high sense of urgency and a pro-active approach to problem solving.
  • Must be a roll-up-your-sleeves, hands-on type manager with a strong plant-floor presence.
  • An unwavering level of integrity and ethics.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

Computer Skills:

  • Must possess strong working knowledge of ERP systems, MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Other Requirements:

  • Experience in Low Volume, High Mix
  • Desire/ability to work in a Flat Organization (Not much support)
  • Demonstrated career advancement in different companies
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication, machine shop processes and various welding methods (MIG, TIG, Plasma, Resistance)
  • Knowledgeable of lean manufacturing (5S, Kanban, 6 Sigma, SPC)
  • Understanding of Shipping and logistics
  • Ability to write, train to and implement Work Procedures
  • Ability to clearly communicate to shop floor employee’s goals and objectives of the company and departments and to ensure they understand what is expected of them.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and implementation of safe work practices
  • Understanding of facility maintenance
  • Ability to lead Materials Group in contract negotiations and cost savings
  • Ability to work with difficult people and coach them.
